Beginner’s Guide to Dynamics 365 Field Service

We will start with exploring customer requirements and work-related challenges leading to the idea of implementing Dynamics 365 Field Service. At this stage, we will also introduce a fictitious customer, their requirements and challenges. In the remaining modules, we will implement and configure Dynamics 365 Field Service for this fictitious customer to solve their challenges, maintain data and manage the end-to-end work execution process. Finally, we will also look at preventative maintenance and procurement-related features.

Course Module Details

Overview and Setup (0.5 Hours)
  • Overview

    This module introduces Dynamics 365 Field Service app, its core features and capabilities. To illustrate, we establish a real-world scenario with a customer case study with work management related challenges and requirements. 

  • Setup

    In this module, will take a look at Dynamics 365 Field Service app, navigation and app modules. We will start our journey of implementing Dynamics 365 Field Service for our fictitious customer by configuring fundamental settings of the Field Service app.

Setup Master Data (0.5 Hours)
  • Accounts

    In this module, we will enter master data in the Dynamics 365 Field Service app to make the system ready for the work execution process. In this first part, we will set up customer, their locations and assets data. 

  • Resources

    In this module, we will set up resources data along with their particulars, work hours, skills etc. 

Work Management, Scheduling, and Execution (1 Hours)
  • Work Orders

    In this module, we will run an end-to-end process of work management and scheduling. We will introduce Work Orders and explore various data elements within its records. We will also look at productivity features associated with Work Orders.

  • Scheduling

    This module focuses on Scheduling capabilities and tools of Dynamics 365 Field Service app. We will explore various tools, methods and approaches to creating bookings against Work Orders.  

  • Work Execution

    This module introduces the mobility interface of the Dynamics 365 Field Service app and runs the process of work execution. We will also explore the effects of changing status and data updates on Work Orders and Bookings. 

Agreements and Purchase Orders (0.5 Hours)
  • Agreements

    This module has two parts. This first part focuses on the preventative maintenance capabilities of the Dynamics 365 Field Service app and looks at how to configure and monitor these records. 

  • Inventory and Purchase Orders

    This module introduces the following capabilities of Dynamics 365 Field Service app: inventory, adjustment and transfers, and purchase orders
